  • Start summer as a non-smoker

    A new free smoking cessation class begins Wednesday, May 18. The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital conference room, located at 309 Eleventh St., in Carrollton, for 13 weeks. Classes last one hour each week.

    The program uses nicotine patches or gum to minimize withdrawal. The classes provide skills to help smokers learn to live without cigarettes. The nicotine patches and gum are provided at no cost to the participants.

    Hello once again, my friends. As I write this article I am looking out the window at a brilliant sunshiny afternoon. Not so long ago we were talking about comfort foods and hearty meals. My how times have changed. Now it’s baseball and softball season, soccer is being played and we all seem to be a little more frantic in our lives. No matter what there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to do all the things we need to do. Perhaps, instead of more time, we simply need to make better use of the time we do have.

  • Perry, McGlennen wed April 21

    Kaitlin C. Perry of Carrollton, Ky. and James H. McGlennen of Carrollton exchanged vows April 21, 2016, at the Faith Community Church in Carrollton with Pastor Randy Doll officiating.

    The bride is the daughter of Chris Perry and Jama Marlette both of Turner’s Station, Ky.  She graduated from Carroll County High School in 2013.

    The groom is the son of Annie Valentine and Pat McGlennen both of Carrollton.

    He graduated from Carroll County High School in 2002. He is employed at North American Stainless.
