  • Tourism hosts local photo competition

    Imagine your photo on the cover of the Carroll County Destinations guide or a brochure on display at numerous trade shows. The Carrollton/Carroll County Tourism and Convention Commission is sponsoring the Carroll County Photo Contest as they look for new photos to promote the community. For its 2015 Photo Contest they want to see people’s experience in the Carrollton/Carroll County area. Capture the moments and places you most enjoyed while visiting the area!

  • Life decisions

    “The Kitchen Table Conversation” was held June 19, at the Carroll County Senior Center. The purpose was to help empower people to start thinking about end-of-life decisions now. The program is a part of the national program called “The Conversation Project.”

    The event included a free dinner, provided by Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation.

  • Photo contest winners

     Susan Marlette and Barb Clymer won top spots in the 2015 Capture Historic Downtown Photo Contest, sponsored by Carroll County Public Library and The News-Democrat held as part of the June First Friday on the Courthouse Square event.

    Marlette won the first and third place awards in the color division. She also claimed second place in the black-and-white division.

    Dwight Louden claimed the second place honors in the color division.

  • Former CCHS students entertain the crowds at Kentucky Renaissance

    Transport back into time at the Kentucky Renaissance Fair. Recent Carroll County High School graduates Logan Underwood and Kathryn Gillespie are participating in the event this year as part of the comedy impro troupe known as the “Minions of Mischief.” They created their own characters–Underwood, a gravedigger named William, and Kathryn a vegetarian butcher named Fiona–then populate the village of the fair and interact (in character) with patrons.

  • River Valley Winery featured in new book

    Carrollton’s own River Valley Winery is featured in a new book called “Wineing Your Way Across Kentucky,” by Becky Kelley and photography by Kathy Woodhouse. Published by Acclaim Press, the book was released in early December and is available across the region and in national outlets as well.
