  • Froman club discusses Foster at Goshen

    Caby M. Froman’s September meeting was hosted at the home of Ellen van Nagell Walnut Hills in Goshen, Ky.

    The luncheon and meeting was set outdoors in a majestic setting of late summer foliage and flowers. The lunch consisted of fresh corn salad garnished with blueberries and fresh vegetables, cottage cheese, grilled chicken legs and hot rolls.

    The religious study was the continuation of the “People’s Bible” chapters 5 and 6, given by Sally Diuguid.

  • Pickleball workshop offered Saturday at Butler Park

    General Butler State Resort Park will host a Pickleball Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 4 at the tennis courts next to the lodge. Tom and Linda Irwin from Lawrenceburg, Ind., will be the instructors. The program is designed for adults. Cost is $3 per person.

    Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in communities in the Southwest and Southern states. The sport puts less stress on the body than activities such as tennis or racketball.

  • Lion’s Club hosts magician as fundraiser

    The Carrollton Lions Club is asking the community for help in its local Eyeglass Fundraiser charity. All money raised stays in the Carrollton community and benefits the Eyeglass Program, which provides eye care, eyeglasses and eye treatments to those in need in the community.

    The Carrollton Lions Club is hosting a new magic and variety show Saturday, Sept. 27, featuring one of Kentucky’s finest illusionists, Dinky Gowen. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Carroll County Middle School. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Children five and under are free.

  • Circus coming to the fairgrounds

    The Carroll County Fair Board will host The Carson & Barnes Circus Friday, Oct. 3, at the fairgrounds. Performances are schedules for 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

    The World’s Biggest Big Top Show includes two hours of fun, excitement and pageantry for children of all ages. See elephants, horses, ponies and dogs perform amazing tricks in the center ring. Be amazed and thrilled by the extraordinary artists from around the world as they entertain the audience with their death defying feats and exquisite artistry.

  • Retired Teachers held meeting Sept. 19

    Carroll County Retired Teachers Association hosted a luncheon/meeting Sept.19, at Pat’s Place to honor two new retirees, Jan Eldridge and Carol Teach. The luncheon was prepared by Donna Parish and was enjoyed by 18 members. 

    President Cassandra McBurney called the meeting to order. The minutes of the May meeting were read by Secretary Velma Hunt and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given and approved. The treasurer told the group that the local chapter would be receiving money from the 5th District for the scholarship fund.
