  • Relevant Church to host Red Cross blood drive

    The American Red Cross is looking for eligible donors of all types to give blood to help avert a shortage. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.

    Red Cross blood donations may be made from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, at Relevant Church, 2505 Highland Ave., Carrollton.

    A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

    Hello once again, my friends. Once more I come to you from the frigid arctic plains of Kentucky. Despite all of our good intentions, we still can’t seem to escape the inevitable forces of nature. Yes, I’m being Mister Obvious and talking about how cold it is, despite the fact that no one really wants to hear that the weather is going to continue its trend for the next couple of weeks. But, I’m over it now, so I’m moving on to a topic we all love: food.

  • Riesenberg completes training

    Navy Seaman Julia K. Riesenberg, daughter of Mike N. Riesenberg and Amy C. Dickerson of Warsaw, Ky., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

    During the eight-week program, Riesenberg completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

  • Adams welcome baby son

    Matt Adams and Tiffany Riley are proud to announce the birth of their son, Ryker Alexander Adams, born Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at 11:48 p.m. at the Baptist Hospital Northeast in LaGrange, Ky. He weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    His big sister, Ryleigh, 5, helped welcome him home.

    Maternal grandparents are Brenda and John Riley of Carrollton; great-grandparents are the late Mary and James Walker and the late Alice and Johnny Riley.

  • KDH free program Feb. 27 offers heart smart health tips

    As part of Heart Month, King’s Daughters’ Health will host a free community program entitled “Be Heart Smart” from noon until 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 in the  Conference Center at the hospital. A healthy lunch will be provided at no charge.

    Dr. Thomas Tu, Cardiologist, will discuss heart disease, heart failure, and heart disease prevention. Participants will have time to ask questions.
