The position of zoning administrator is still up for grabs in the city of Ghent.Last month, the Ghent City Commission vetoed a second candidate recommended for the position, which is responsible for enforcing the city’s zoning ordinances.
In April, the comission vetoed the Planning and Zoning’s first choice for the position, P&Z member and former chairman Karen Browning.
In a special meeting April 25, the P&Z selected resident Jack Duncan for the position.
Operation B.L.U.E. Lights is the summer enforcement campaign for the Kentucky State Police that began June 1 and is picking up speed as it sweeps across the state. The campaign is designed to bring attention to unsafe driving behaviors in an effort to offset the recent spike in traffic deaths on Kentucky roadways.
B.L.U.E. is an acronym designed to remind drivers to focus on these driving-related attributes:

Five generations gathered on Memorial Day at Hometown Pizza in Carrollton for a holiday celebration. Pictured above, left to right are great-granddaughter Isabella Anderson, daughter Rhonda Cox, mother Agnes Long, granddaughter Sheri Anderson and an aunt, Doris Miller, holding the new great-grandson Elijah Martin. Sherry Anderson and her children were visiting during the holiday from Tennessee.
A crew of volunteers from Walmart in Carrollton, led by its manager Lisa Brown, planted flowers and cleaned up at the entrance to Carroll County off of Interstate 71 at Hwy. 227. They received assistance from Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy Clay Cable, who alerted any traffic in the area to slow down as the crew completed its work. This is the second year the store has undertaken this project in advance of the NASCAR races at Kentucky Speedway.
The annual Carroll County Relay For Life event will take place on Friday, June 15 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.
