    I hope you had a safe and fun Halloween. We certainly did at the Bealls home in Ghent.  Every year we sit out in their carport, wrapped up in coats and blankets and enjoy all of the trick-or-treaters.

  • Meadows publishes book on hermeneutic phenomenology

    Carroll County resident Becky Lee Meadows, Ph.D. signed a book publishing contract with Cambria Press this month. The publishing company has agreed to publish her book, “The Consciousness of Damnation: A Hermeneutical Phenomenology of the Fall of the Self in Matthew Lewis’s The Monk.”

  • Tips for preparing home for winter

    Carroll County Emergency Management reminds you to take time now to get your home ready for the winter season by following these tips:

    1.Have your heating systems checked by a professional annually. This will ensure that your system is working safely and efficiently which, in turn, will save you money. If you heat by wood, clean your fireplace or stove. Have your chimney flues checked for any buildup of creosote and then cleaned to lessen the risk of fire.

  • Butler hosts dinner theater Nov. 12

    General Butler State Resort Park will present a dinner theater production featuring singer, entertainer and impressionist Kevin Adams on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. Adams has been entertaining for more than 20 years and can do more than 100 voices and impressions including Elvis, Louis Armstrong, Willie Nelson, Sonny and Cher, and many more.
