Carrollton Police Officer Keith R. Dews graduated from basic training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Jan. 24.
Twenty-four officers from 19 agencies across the state made up Class 450. They completed 18 weeks of training, which consisted of nearly 770 hours of recruit-level-officer academy instruction. Major training areas included homeland security, law offenses and procedures, vehicle operations, firearms, investigations, first aid/CPR, patrol procedures, orientation for new law enforcement families and mechanics of arrest, restraint and control.
God’s Special Little Hearts and the Owen County Homemakers will host the ninth annual Walk for Awareness of Congenital Heart Defects event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Owenton First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 213 North Main Street in Owenton, Ky. The event is free to attend.
A special recognition walk for CHD survivors and families of angels will be held at 3 p.m.
