  • Not everyone’s going to enjoy a special recipe

We just spent a week of vacation with our son, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren — ages 1, 2, 4 and 10 — in Florida.

In that group we have some very picky eaters, including the adults. As much as I love them all, I do get a little disturbed because they all eat a lot of snack foods. The general menu for the 2- and 4- year-olds is chicken fingers and French fries, no vegetables. Their mother is trying to get them to eat better, but their habit of eating snack foods that it makes it very difficult for her.

  • There's a new doctor in the house

Workers who sustain injuries on the job will find a new face at Carroll County Memorial Hospital ready to assist them with their recovery.

Dr. Sherrell Nunnelley assumed his full-time role as medical director of occupational medicine two weeks ago, but he has been working at CCMH a couple of days each week for the past two months.

“For the past 20 years, I have been taking care of all kinds of injuries,” Nunnelley said.

  • It’s good to serve cookies to attract a great crowd

Cookies were in order for a recent event Bob and I attended, and I was designated to either buy or make them.

It was for a very special meeting and I was told not to go out of my way to make the cookies. Well, many of you know me, I just cannot let a special meeting happen with store bought cookies. (Although, I can still remember those chocolate covered marshmallow cookies my father would buy; they were so good. Making cookies is like therapy for me, well, actually any kind of baking is therapy for me. Therefore, I was on for the challenge of baking at least 100 cookies.
