  • Health department offers low-cost rabies vaccinations at June 11 clinic

    Three Rivers District Health Department will conduct a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic from 8-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 11.

    The clinic will be held at the Carroll County Health Center, 401 11th St., Carrollton, and performed by staff from the Carroll County Animal Clinic.

    Owners may bring their dogs and cats to receive a rabies vaccine for only $5. Make sure your pet is in a carrier or on a leash.

    Other vaccines and supplies may be available upon request for additional fees.

    Social Security ends visits to Carroll County

    The Social Security Administration will no longer visit the Carroll County Circuit Court office on the second Tuesday of each month.

    Local residents needing assistance may visit the SSA office at 140 Flynn Ave., Frankfort, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

  • Friends of Butler awarded nonprofit status

    Friends of Butler has been granted its 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service. 

    “We were pleased to have received the news that our application had been approved on the first pass,” said Melissa Tharp, Friends treasurer. 

    Friends of Butler fosters and furthers the Butler heritage through supporting programs, restoration, collections, public awareness and promoting the Butler-Turpin State Historic House and General Butler State Resort Park. 

  • Three claim Gallatin titles

    Three Carroll County girls took home crowns from the 2011 Springtime of Hope pageant Saturday, May 14, at the Gallatin County Auditorium.

    The pageant was a featyre if Gallatin’s Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

    The girls participating wore evening gowns and answered an on- stage question. Courtney Powell was named Junior Miss Springtime of Hope, Caitlyn Burke was named Miss Teen Springtime of Hope and Ashlea Ramsey was named Ms. Springtime of Hope.

  • Attractive presentation makes punch taste best

    I was thinking the other day about having a refreshing beverage – it was 90 degrees outside, and my mouth was parched. My mind ran down the list of cool drinks I have prepared in the past.

    I began thinking of new beverages to prepare and how pretty and enticing I could make them look, which truly is a blissful experience for me.  Sometimes I am amazed by where my imagination can go.

  • Carnival to raise funds for Relay

    River Valley Financial Bank and Fun Zone Inflatables are hosting a Relay for Life carnival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in the parking lot behind the bank, 1501 Highland Ave.

    Proceeds will benefit Carroll County’s Relay for Life. Tables and chairs will be set up under a canopy to provide shade.
