Carroll County Water District will be flushing their distribution mains. Starting on Friday, April 24, the Carroll County zone will be flushed. Gallatin County’s zone will be flushed Monday April 27, and Owen County’s on Tuesday April 28. At this time, customers may experience some discolor in the water due to the high scouring water flow throughout the pipes.
The Rotary Club of Carrollton will hold its annual pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9. The club raises money to fund scholarships for local high school students. With grant assistance from Rotary District 6710, the club will also fund some Early College and Dual Credit classes for Carroll County High School students.
Republican candidate for Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles and Candidate for Kentucky Attorney General Whitney Westerfield are scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. April 22, at the community room at 1208 Highland Ave. Everyone is welcome to hear the future plans these candidates have for the respective statewide offices.

Carrollton Utilities will flush fire hydrants on the City of Carrollton water system, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 21. Hydrant flushing is done each year at this time to remove all sediment in the mains and to make sure all hydrants are working properly. Carrollton Utilities suggests laundry should not be washed while crews are flushing the hydrants as some staining of clothes could occur.
Next month will be the 16th annual art show hosted by the Carroll County Public Library. But this year marks the show’s 10th anniversary as the Mary Ann Gentry Memorial Art Show.
Jarrett Boyd, who was library director at the time, said she proposed to the board to rename the May event after Gentry “in honor of all the work she had done in the community.”
