  • Carroll County Public Library - April 6, 2011

    The following events will be held at Carroll County Public Library in downtown Carrollton this week:

    Wednesday, April 6: 9:30 a.m., Walk-away the Pounds; 10 a.m.-noon, Creative Wednesdays.

    Thursday, April 7: 9:30 a.m. Walk-away the Pounds; 11 a.m., Music Makers, ages 18 months and up; 1:30 p.m., Story Hour, ages 4-6 years; 4 p.m., GED help; 5 p.m., homework help; 6 p.m., ESL class.

    Friday, April 8: 9:30 a.m., Walk-away the Pounds.

    Saturday, April 9: 9:30 a.m., Walk-away the Pounds; 2 p.m., family movie, “Tangled.”

  • Relay for Life pageant set for April 23 at CCMS

    Relay for Life Pageant will be held Saturday, April 23 and open to everyone fitting the age requirements.

    Age categories are: pre-teen, 8-11; teen: 12-15; and miss, 16-21. The entry fee is $25 for pre-teen and teen, and $30 for miss. All proceeds go to Relay for Life.

    The pageant will be held in the auditorium at  Carroll County Middle School. Admission is $3 and  free for children 5 and under.

  • Kemper, Stafford to wed April 16

    David and Debbie Kemper of Carrollton announce the wedding of their daughter, Norma Lee Ann Kemper to Roy Lawson Stafford Jr., son of Roy and Elizabeth Stafford of Wheatley, Ky.

    The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Carroll County High School, and employed as a site-supervisor for United Security.

    The groom-to-be is a 1991 graduate of Owen County High School in Owenton, Ky. and is employed as an assistant manager for Hometown Pizza.

  • It’s good to serve cookies to attract a great crowd

    Cookies were in order for a recent event Bob and I attended, and I was designated to either buy or make them.

    It was for a very special meeting and I was told not to go out of my way to make the cookies. Well, many of you know me, I just cannot let a special meeting happen with store bought cookies. (Although, I can still remember those chocolate covered marshmallow cookies my father would buy; they were so good. Making cookies is like therapy for me, well, actually any kind of baking is therapy for me. Therefore, I was on for the challenge of baking at least 100 cookies.

  • Couple celebrates 57th annivesary

    Patsy Knigga, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Oscar Knigga of Ghent, Ky. married Kenneth Massey her longtime sweetheart at the Ghent Baptist Church on March 21, 1954. Her matron of honor was Mary Lou Smith and best man was Steve Massey, the brother of the groom.

  • Louden, Leap to wed April 9

    Darius and Sandy Louden of Campbellsburg, Ky. announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Carmen F. Louden to Travis A. Leap, son of Donna Ritch of Lakeland, Fla. and Bill and Rose Leap of Vevay, Ind.

    The bride-elect is a 2006 Kentucky Community and Technical College System graduate and is employed as waitress and model.

    The groom-to-be is a 1997 Vincennes University graduate and is employed as a contractor.

  • Brocious, Moore welcome daughter

    Jana Lynn Brocious and Rob Moore would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Lily Harper Brocious-Moore born, Jan. 6, 2011, at Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 inches long.

    Proud uncle Kory B. Brocious welcomed Lilly home. Maternal grandmother is Kathleen Brocious of Campbellsburg, Ky. Paternal grandparents are Ron and Dianne Moore of Los Angeles, Calif.
