The Carrollton Woman’s meeting was held at Pat’s Place Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.
Carolyn Stout, education program chairman, introduced Carroll County Public Library Director Hillary Arney, who told about the library being funded 85 percent by taxes. She said that so many services are being offered through the library to Carroll County Citizens that it makes it a real bargain.
Crystal Duncan Taylor of Bedford, Ky. would like to announce the birth of her daughter, Catherine Arianna Duncan, born 4:10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces and was 19.75 inches long.
Big sister, Mollie Abbigal Gardner, 22 months old, helped welcome Catherine home.
Maternal grandparents are William and Gladys Duncan of Bedford Ky.; great-grandparents Maureen Duncan and the late Lester “Rusty” Duncan of Carrollton Ky.
The first time I ever tasted oranges and tomatoes together was in Atlanta, Ga. in 1990. It was totally by accident or fate, whichever you want to call it. As the first vice-president of the League of Women Voters for Georgia, I was attending a pitch-in luncheon meeting. If my memory serves me right, it was basically a salad luncheon. I don’t even recall what salad I took, actually, I probably took dessert.
Free screenings and information on fall prevention are 9-11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23 for older adults, their caregivers and anyone with an interest in fall prevention. Northern Kentucky Area Development District Office is hosting the event at 22 Spiral Dr. in Florence. Blood pressure screening, medication review, balance and gait testing, safe transfer demonstrations and information on fall prevention, durable medical equipment that can assist with safety in the home and information for the visually impaired will be offered.
