  • Watermelon contests, music, a 6-foot balloon and more at First Friday Aug. 4

    The watermelons will be rolling as several teams compete Friday night in Carrollton Main Street Program’s Watermelon Roll Relay.

    It’s all part of the Watermelon Mania fun planned for the August First Friday event in downtown Carrollton.

  • Port William Historical Society to raise funds for Masterson House

    The Port William Historical Society met July 25, at the Masterson House with 18 people in attendance. President Deborah Garrett called the meeting to order. The minutes of the May meeting were approved. The treasurer’s report was tabled until the next meeting.

    The Carroll County Public Library will offer “Food for Fines:” refresh your account with the Back-to-School fine amnesty. Bring any one of the following items from Aug. 1-15: mixed vegetables, canned carrots, pork and beans, canned soup and/or canned ravioli. Each item brought in will reduce your fine by $5. Please check expiration dates, as expired food will not be accepted.
