• Operation Prom Dress March 7 at Relevant

    Operation Prom Dress Shop 2015 will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at Relevant Church gymnasium. This year’s theme is “The Red Carpet Experience.” Operation Prom Dress is a free event for high school girls looking for a dress for prom. There are more than 1,000 dresses to choose from. Girls have the opportunity to leave with a dress, shoes, purse, jewelry and makeup all for free.

    February is the month of love thanks to St. Valentine and Library Legislative Day.  This is the time of the year we take our message to Frankfort and let all of our representatives know how much we love our libraries.  We are fortunate to have great representatives that truly understand the value of libraries in our state, but it is always good to remind them.

  • Relay for Life pageant March 21 at CCMS

    The fifth annual Carroll County Relay for Life pageants will be held from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Carroll County Middle School auditorium. The event is sponsored by Team Robbins, and all proceeds benefit the Carroll County Relay for Life.

    The pageants are open to everyone and cost $35 per participant, except for the Survivor category, which is free to enter.

  • Boswell joins United Citizens Bank staff

    Robert (Robb) Boswell has joined the staff of United Citizens Bank & Trust Company. He will be the Branch Manager and Loan Officer at the Carrollton branch. Boswell is a 1989 graduate of Carroll County High School and a 1992 graduate of Louisville Technology College (Sullivan College). He attends Worthville Baptist Church.

    Boswell resides in Carrollton with his wife, Lori, a lab manager at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, and his two sons, Wyatt and Cody.

  • West retires after 33 years at WLEX-TV

    Carroll County native and longtime general sales manager at NBC affiliate WLEX-TV Mary West retired in December after 33 years with the station.

    “It’s been a phenomenal three-plus decades of building relationships and working with people that have become like a family to me,” West said. “So that makes it bittersweet. But LEX18 is in a strong position with great momentum and a wonderful staff. If I’ve done my job well, we won’t miss a beat.”
