  • Donation earns free dogwood trees

The Arbor Day Foundation is making it easy for everyone to celebrate the arrival of spring by planting trees.

Everyone who joins the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation in March 2016 with a $10 donation will receive 10 free white flowering dogwood trees through the Foundation’s Trees for America campaign.

White flowering dogwoods will add beauty to your home throughout the year, they are known for their showy spring flowers, scarlet autumn foliage and red berries that attract song birds during winter.

  • There is real value in ‘trash’

Many of the items thrown in the trash have value.

Plastic and glass bottles, aluminum and steel cans, old newspapers and used cardboard boxes have a cash value, but in Kentucky, these items are thrown away more often than being recycled.

According to the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection, Kentucky only recycles about a third of our solid waste (aka trash).
