  • Polley honored at University of Dubuque Honors Alumni ceremony

    The University of Dubuque honored 10 alumni Saturday, Oct. 15, during an Alumni Recognition Breakfast held on the campus’ Myers Center Green. Among those honored was Rev. Timothy Polley (C’08, MDiv’11), of Carrollton, Kentucky. He was one of two who received the University’s Volunteer Recognition Award.

  • Create a ‘fall foods’ list to prepare for cold weather

    Hello once again, my friends. Here we are, looking out our windows, longing for the cool weather that we know is on its way. Well, some of us are longing for that and all the fantastic comfort foods it brings with it. As I sit here dreaming of chili and soups and roasts, it’s 80 degrees outside so that is why I’m longing. The thing is, even though mother nature doesn’t seem to be cooperating, we can still be planning for the coming weather and, with it, the coming of fall foods.

  • Smith involved in Best Buddies program

    Carrollton native and retired Kentucky State Trooper Brad Smith currently serves as a sergeant with the Murray State University Police Department in Murray, Ky., and was publicly recognized recently for his support of the 2016 Best Buddies Talent Show. The talent show was held at Wrather Hall on Oct. 14, on the campus of Murray State.

  • Chandler, Funk learn about new interlock ignition law at annual District Judges College

    District Court Judge Elizabeth A. Chandler and District Court Judge Thomas M. Funk who serve Carroll, Grant and Owen counties, got a refresher on handling DUI cases and other matters at the 2016 District Judges College at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Jamestown Sept. 18-21.

    The Education Committee of the Kentucky District Judges Association developed the college in conjunction with the Division of Judicial Branch Education at the Administrative Office of the Courts.

  • Stark attends educational sessions

    Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk Laman Stark joined other circuit clerks from across the state at the 2016 Circuit Court Clerks Fall College in Lexington. The Administrative Office of the Courts provided the educational program Sept. 26-29, for the state’s circuit court clerks.

    The circuit court clerks received an update on the court system from AOC Director Laurie K. Dudgeon and attended sessions on jury management, record retention and court technology.
