  • Keeton offers time-saving tips for busy cooks

    Hello once again, my friends. As I write this article I am looking out the window at a brilliant sunshiny afternoon. Not so long ago we were talking about comfort foods and hearty meals. My how times have changed. Now it’s baseball and softball season, soccer is being played and we all seem to be a little more frantic in our lives. No matter what there just doesn’t seem to be enough time in the day to do all the things we need to do. Perhaps, instead of more time, we simply need to make better use of the time we do have.

  • Start summer as a non-smoker

    A new free smoking cessation class begins Wednesday, May 18. The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital conference room, located at 309 Eleventh St., in Carrollton, for 13 weeks. Classes last one hour each week.

    The program uses nicotine patches or gum to minimize withdrawal. The classes provide skills to help smokers learn to live without cigarettes. The nicotine patches and gum are provided at no cost to the participants.

  • NKCAC offers college scholarships

    Northern Kentucky Community Action is offering scholarships to recognize students who have overcome challenges to pursue a higher education dream. These scholarships are available to those qualifying students enrolled in an accredited institution offering certifications and/or degrees. Monies can be used toward tuition and fees, books or required school supplies.
