  • reSettled Life founder becomes only female licensed auctioneer in Boone, Kenton

    To better serve her senior transition clients, Amy Wright of reSettled Life in Union, Ky., wanted to offer auctions as one of her services. To do so required her to be an apprentice auctioneer for one year, work 10 auctions, complete 80 hours of training and pass the principal auctioneer’s examination. Having completed all four, she earned her principal auctioneer license from the Kentucky Board of Auctioneers on Nov. 10, 2016. She now joins the 182 other women who make up a very small percentage of the 2000 auctioneers currently licensed in Kentucky.

  • Rotary Ball

    Rotary Club of Carrollton hosted its annual ball Feb. 4, at General Butler State Resort Park. The money raised benefited the Jefferson Community and Technical College-Carrollton campus. 

  • 2017 Basketball Homecoming

    The annual Homecoming Crowning will be held between the Carroll County High School varsity basketball games against Williamstown Friday, Feb. 10. The boys play at 6 p.m. followed by the homecoming crowning and then the girls’ game. 

  • Panther Tots

    Carroll County Schools and the Carroll County Public Library teamed up for Panther Tots, Jan. 25. The program was based on the book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.”

  • Mathis speaks to historical society

    The Port William Historical Society met on Jan. 24, at Pat’s Place with 12 members and a guest speaker, Gary Mathis, in attendance. President of PWHS Deborah Garrett introduced Mathis, who is Executive Director of Carroll County Community Development Corporation and is in charge of grants and economic development. He discussed his work background and his areas of experience. He was very enthusiastic in discussing plans for the city of Carrollton.
