  • Auditions for singing competition June 3, at Butler

    So you believe you can sing? The time for you to “Shine” is fast approaching as Carrollton native Brandon Stewart brings his newest concept to Kentucky with live auditions June 2-4.

    Shine is a singing competition that aims to inspire artists of all ages and provide them with the foundation they need to succeed. A news release states that Shine owns a music studio and partners with industry professionals to provide a successful launch to any aspiring singer. Celebrities, talent managers, agents and producers will all attend the live show event.

  • Two good State Resort Parks for early summer largemouth bass fishing

    The months of May and June make for two of the best for catching largemouth bass. The weather is warm, but not too hot, and the largemouth bass feed heavily as warmer water temperatures increase their desire to eat.

    Largemouth bass are one of the most popular sport fish in Kentucky. Two of Kentucky’s excellent state resort parks, Barren River Lake State Resort and Lake Barkley State Resort Park, lie on two of the best largemouth bass lakes in our state.

  • Picnic with the Pops

    Carroll County High School band and Carroll County Middle School seventh and eighth grade bands performed a joint concert called “Picnic with the Pops” May 13, in the high school gym. The bands raised money by selling tables in the middle of the gym floor and allowing audience members to enjoy their picnic lunch during the performances. Prizes were awarded to the best-decorated tables. See more pictures at www.mycarrollnews.com.

  • Newcomer, Nab earn Eagle Scout
  • Lewis named NCO of the Year

    SFC William P. Lewis, II of Carrollton was presented the award for 2017 NCO Soldier of the Year at a ceremony May 4. He was chosen from soldiers in three states.

    During the presentation his superior, Master Sergeant Chad Savage, said Lewis is physically fit, mentally fit and spiritually fit.

    Lewis will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in October where he will be honored for this accomplishment.

    Lewis serves in the Ohio National Guard based in Cincinnati.

    He is married to Brittany Tiller Lewis, and they reside in Carrollton.
