On April 2, the Carrollton Woman’s Club met at Pats’ Place on Seminary Street.
Eight members said the pledge to the flag. Co-hostess Carolyn Stout called the meeting to order and introduced the program chairwoman Karen Claiborne. Claiborne introduced the club members to a Jeopardy type game concerning information about the papal election. Members were split into two very competitive teams each picking questions from six categories. They learned a lot and had a fun time learning.
General Butler State Resort Park will host its second Mudathlon® – a 3-mile, 40-obstacle course seeking as much natural and muddy terrain as possible – on Saturday, May 11.
On March 14, the city of Ghent was visited by Christie Taylor and her teen-age son Frank, of Houston, Texas, who were in the area to research the life of her great-grandmother Claudia McCann Walne, a Ghent native who was for many years a Baptist Missionary to Japan. She was the daughter of John J. and Nancy O’Neal McCann of Ghent.
