The May meeting of Carroll County RetiredTeachers Association was held at Hometown Pizza with 12 members present. Members enjoyed a meal thanks to Mark and Carol Bates. They had made a generous donation to CCRTA during retired teachers week this past October. The purpose of the donation was to show their appreciation for the education their family had received from the Carroll County school system. The members of CCRTA truly appreciate this thoughtful gesture.

My son is graduating high school, the garden is coming up and hot weather is right around the corner. Seems like yesterday I was talking about comfort foods and getting through the holidays. But, as always, we go forward, inspired and looking for new ways to broaden our cooking horizons.
Eric Popp recently joined the esteemed list of Carroll County Boy Scouts earning the rank of Eagle Scout.
For his Eagle Scout project, Popp rerouted part of the Boy Scout trail at General Butler State Resort Park.
“The trail was a little steep coming off the bridge and the slope was always muddy,” Popp said. “The change has made the trail easier to maneuver. We added about 500 feet to the trail, as we followed a deer path.”
The Pioneer Power Club hosted its annual tractor and equipment show May 6-7, at Point Park. The event attracted hundreds from as far away as New York. Organizers of the event stress that the annual show is a family event and they work to hold many events just for young tractor lovers, along with the adults.
