  • Conference offers ways to learn genealogy

My hubby, Patter, and I had the opportunity to attend the National Genealogical Society Conference in St. Charles, Mo., last week. St. Charles is a few miles west of St. Louis, just over the Missouri River. It’s a nice place with a really quaint historic district that offers several wonderful restaurants and lots of nice little shops to peruse.

  • Rescued

Carol West and her husband, Keith, of Sanders, Ky. were camping at General Butler State Resort Park May 3, when Keith noticed a pair of Baltimore Orioles. The birds had found some discarded fishing line and were building their nest about 35 feet up in a tree.

When Keith next looked up he saw the female bird entwined in the fishing line and hanging upside down. The male bird was distraught and flew up to her several times trying to help. At times the bird could manage to get back up on a limb but would fall again.
