  • Five generations

     Five generations gathered on Memorial Day at Hometown Pizza in Carrollton for a holiday celebration.   • At the Library--June 6th 2012

     Wednesday, June 6: Walk away the pounds, 9 a.m.; yoga, 9:45 a.m.; Grandparent’s Day, shop the book fair and enjoy stories, music and crafts, 11 a.m.; operation Shakespeare, 1-4 p.m.;  Zumba, 5:15 p.m.

    Thursday, June 7:  Walk-away the pounds, 9 a.m.; GED help, 3:30 p.m.; ESL class, 6 p.m.

    Friday, June 8:  Walk-away the pounds, 9 a.m.; computer basic, 10:30 a.m.; operation Shakespeare, 1-4 p.m.; operation Shakespeare performance, 4 p.m.

  • Students perform at recital

     A music recital presented by students of Nancy Jo Grobmyer was held Sunday afternoon, May 20 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Carrollton.

    Those performing and their compositions were: Kaitlyn Reynolds performed “Robin Hood,” “Christopher Columbus” and “Just a Second,” Alfred Series.

    Anna Marie Webster performed Willard Palmer’s “The Bell Song,” “Freight Train” by Palmer and “Ode to Joy” by Beethoven.

  • Sprucing up

     A crew of volunteers from Walmart in Carrollton, led by its manager Lisa Brown, planted flowers and cleaned up at the entrance to Carroll County off of Interstate 71 at Hwy. 227. They received assistance from Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy Clay Cable, who alerted any traffic in the area to slow down as the crew completed its work. This is the second year the store has undertaken this project in advance of the NASCAR races at Kentucky Speedway.

  • Relay for Life Events

     Silent and live auctions to be held during Relay

    The annual Carroll County Relay For Life event will take place on Friday, June 15 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m. 

    A silent and live auction will be a part of the activities scheduled for the evening. If anyone would like to donate an item or a basket for the auctions, bring it to the fairgrounds the day of the event or call (502) 732-5941 for additional information.

  • Reese receives scholarship to attend ACCE convention

     Bret Reese, administrative assistance for the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, is one of 13 people statewide to receive a Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives scholarship for the upcoming annual American Chamber of Commerce Executives Convention. The ACCE Convention will be held in Louisville, Aug. 1-4. 

  • Six county economic task force to hire a coordinator

    Six counties joined forces last Thursday to expand local businesses and employment.

    The judge-executives from Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Oldham, Owen and Trimble counties have been meeting together to form the I-71 Kentucky Corridor Regional Task Force, Inc.

  • $5 vaccination clinic set for June 16

     Three Rivers District Health Department, the Wallace Animal Clinic and Minch Animal Clinic will sponsor Rabies Vaccination Clinics on Saturday, June 16, at Carroll County Health Center, 401 Eleventh Street, in Carrollton from 4-6 p.m.

    Bring in dogs, cats, and ferrets for their annual vaccination for only $5. Other vaccinations will be available upon request for additional charge.

  • Relay for Life

     Team to hold yard sale

    Team Robbins will host a Relay For Life yard sale fundraiser June 2 in Traderbaker’s parking lot. The yard sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will continue into the afternoon, weather permitting. They will also be selling purple bows for our “Paint the Town Purple” campaign.
