Finally, my friends,winter has given up its grip and spring is here. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming and golf clubs are being swung.
OK, I’ll admit it, it is 39 degrees outside while I’m writing this and they are calling for a snowstorm on Sunday. What I meant to say was winter has almost given up its grip and spring is almost here. Now, that sounds better.

Friday, March 22: Walk-away the pounds, 9 a.m.; computer basics, 10 a.m. until noon; Friday crafts, 3:30-4:30 p.m.; artist reception, Melanie Lewis, photographs nature in all its glories and seasons, 6 p.m.
Saturday, March 23: Walk-away the pounds, 9 a.m.; photo shop, 10 a.m.-noon.

The groom is the son of Jeffery Mahoney of Carrollton and Meloney Stivers of Carrollton. He is a 2010 graduate of Carroll County High School and is employed as a cashier with Prestonville Shell in Prestonville, Ky.
