  • Hughes, May to wed Sept. 10

    Marlene Hughes of Drennon, Ky. and Danny May of Emminence, Ky. would like to announce their upcoming wedding.

    Ms. Hughes is the daughter of Vicky Le Master of Drennon and the late Jack McDowell. Mr. May is the son of Thelma May of Eminence and the late J.T. May.

    The private ceremony will take place, Sept. 10, 2012, and will be by invitation only.

    There will be a reception at a later date.

    The couple will reside in Drennon.

  • Groups hosting golf scramble fund-raisers

    The Worthville Fire Departmentis hosting its first four-person golf scramble Saturday, Sept. 8, at Cardinal Hills Golf Course in Bedford.

    Cost is $40 per player and registration is open until tee time at 8 a.m.

    Winners will receive trophies. Proceeds will be used for the purchase of a tanker truck. For more information, call Ernie at (502) 525-0268.

  • Volunteers, others who serve to be honored

    The Pentecostals of Carrollton invite the public to join the congregation at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9,  to honor volunteers and others who serve the county.

    The church appreciates all that is done by volunteers, law-enforcement officials and others, and wants to say thanks.

  • Poker run raises $7,700 for community Christmas

    The 2012 “Christmas in August” poker run raised $7,700, with 295 people who participated on 200 motorcycles, and a total of 306 poker hands played. In its three years, this event has raised more than $16,000 for the Carroll County Ministerial Association to use for its community Christmas project benefiting local children and led by Leigh Ann Roberts. Christmas in August Poker run is an annual event held on the third weekend in August.
