What wonderful, beautiful weather we have had these past few days. I love to be outside now, but I also like to sit down and reminisce during the fall season. Maybe because it is the time of year we think about home and hearth. Some of it also may have to do with spending time at the Chamber of Commerce banquet and listening to all the “oldies” via Elvis and the juke box last Thursday evening. That certainly brought back many memories and was a great evening.
Kathryn Winn Primary holds its fall festival 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29.
A $5 per child admission or $10 per family admission will help to benefit the school and help raise funds for new playground equipment.
It will also allow each child the opportunity to have a great time, playing games, touring the haunted house, participating in a costume contest and bouncing in an inflatable.
Concessions, vendor booths, additional games, a silent auction and a basket auction will also be available but are not included in the admission fee.
General Butler State Resort Park will present a dinner theater production featuring singer, entertainer and impressionist Kevin Adams on Nov. 12.
Adams has been entertaining for more than 20 years and can do more than 100 voices and impressions including Elvis, Louis Armstrong, Willie Nelson, Sonny and Cher, and many more. The show starts at 6:30 p.m.
“Reaching out, sharing all, changing lives” is the Ohio Valley United Charities Inc., theme for its 2012 fundraising campaign it launched this month as it seeks financial support for 24 area charities for grants totaling $90,000. In operation since 1998, the non-profit organization composed of volunteers from Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Owen and Trimble counties seeks pledges and donations from area businesses and industries that helps designated charities give back services to the community.
Toys for Tots annual “Toy Run” is Saturday, Oct. 22. Entry fee is $10 per person or new toy of same value. All motorcycles and riders are welcome.
Winner of the poker hand will win a special prize, extra hands of cards are available for $5 each. All proceeds go to the Toy Run and to buy Christmas presents for the VA Hospice Unit. Toys and money will be distributed locally in our community.
On Saturday, Oct, 15, the Louisville Comedy All Stars will perform a comedy show called “Comedy for Lorin” at the Moose Lodge at 1340 Michigan Road, Madison, Ind. The show is a benefit for the Lorin “Bugsy” McAllister Memorial Fund.
Performing will be headline comedians Mark Klein, Bob Batch and Keith McGill, with guest appearances by Mike Chandler, Rich Barber, and Master of Ceremonies Jeff Davis. The show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. To reserve seats, call Davis at (502) 758-0778.
