Judy Chowning of Carrollton is the author is a new children’s book that illustrates the scenery of the Grand Caynon as it delivers a message about the appreciation for privileges of today’s modern world.
“Jacki and Jo’s Grand Canyon Adventure” is a simple story about a young girl named Jacki Ann, who, in the beginning, was hesitant to take the trip to the Grand Canyon.

I recently made chicken and dumplings for dinner — a nice Sunday one. These kind of meals usually remind me of my grandmother, but on this day I couldn’t help but think of my own mother and the story she once told.
My dad always teased Mother about the fact that when he married her, she didn’t know how to boil water. That wasn’t exactly true, though. Mother came from a very poor family and had to learn to do many things while growing up, cooking included. Since my grandmother was such a good cook, I am sure my mother learned well from her.
Joey and Donna Mershall of Bedford, Ky. would like to announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter Ashlee Dawn to Clay Cauley of Carrollton, the son of Terry and Debbie Cauley. The couple became engaged in May 2010.
The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Trimble County High School. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in May 2010, with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She is currently employed at Dr. Eric Kelley’s office in Bowling Green as a dental hygienist.
The Carroll County Agriculture Development Fund Inc. will be taking applications for Phase 1 Cost Share money starting on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 8 a.m. at the Carroll County Extension Office, 500 Floyd Drive, Carrollton.
These applications will be available until Friday, Oct. 14 at 4:30 p.m. Applications will also be sent through the mail to farmers that are listed on the Extension agriculture database.
The sign-up has a 25 percent-75 percent match, with a limit of $3,500.
