Gov. Steve Beshear, First Lady Jane Beshear and the Governor’s Mansion Centennial Celebration Committee recently recognized Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty Tomlinson and Carrollton/Carroll County Tourism Director Misty Wheeler for their contributions to the “County Seats Legacy Project.”
The fifth annual Operation Prom Dress event was held March 22, at The Carrollton. This was the biggest year so far, with more than 40 girls walking away with dresses and all the accessories they need to go to prom, all for free. The Carrollton provided the space, DJ service and refreshments free of charge for the event.
The Red Cross will hold a blood donation event from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April 10 in Ghent, at Kentucky Utilities, (Red Cross Bus), 9485 Hwy. 42 East
A second blood drive is set for 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at North American Stainless (Red Cross Bus), 6870 Hwy. 42 East.
The Red Cross must collect enough blood donations every day to meet the needs of cancer patients, trauma victims, organ transplant recipients, premature babies with complications, sickle cell disease patients and others.
The Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk’s office will close at noon on Monday, March 31, to allow for the electronic conversion of information. The new court system’s accounts receivable program goes live April 1. The Accounts Receivable program allows the KYCOURTS case management system to speak electronically to the receipts/bookkeeping system. The judicial branch is required to report money owed to the state general fund and the new AR program makes it possible to file this report.
