    U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management holds a Wild Horse and Burro Adoption 2-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4 and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at Gatewood Arena, 4470 Jonesville Road, in Dry Ridge.

    Adoption is first come first served.

  • Vocational school offers welding classes at night

    Kentucky Tech/Carroll County Vocational School will offer night classes for welding.

    Cost is $450 and depending on the interests of the applicants this class will focus on ARC (S.M.A.W.) and/or MIG (G.M.A.W.) welding. The fee includes welding rods, gases, metals and other small shop tools.

    Class meets on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 4-8 p.m. and run from Sept. 19 through Oct. 19.

  • Library offers $4 in services for each $1 collected

    While most people think of Christmas in July, we think of New Year’s in July.  Our financial year is over the last day of June. 

    This gives us July and August to report and reflect on how well we served the community.  2010-2011 was one of our biggest years to date.

    Another week has flown by and in many ways with rumbling, rolling earth, wind and thunder. I imagine that many of you have families or friends in the earthquake and hurricane areas and were very concerned for them. At this writing, we still do not know what damage the hurricane may have caused, but we all know about the earthquake.

  • Girl Scouts hold registration night

    Carroll County Girl Scout and adult registration night is 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29 at Carroll County Public Library. Volunteers are always needed. Please consider volunteering to lead a troop so even more girls can be a part of Girl Scouts. Everyone is welcome to come to the event and join the fun.

  • Lions sponsor Aug. 27 magic show

    Carrollton Lions Club sponsors the Comedy Magic Show at the Carroll County Middle School Auditorium 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27. Proceeds will help with the eyeglass program and special eye treatments.

    Magician and musician David Cottrell plays a blazing five-string banjo and has performed for the President of the United States, opened for acts such as George Strait, Ricky Skaggs, Allison Krauss and David Copperfield. He is member of Louisville Magic Club and International Brotherhood of Magicians.
