• Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf Scramble

    Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Carrollton will host a golf scramble on Wednesday, June 26, at Cardinal Hill Golf Course in Bedford, Ky. 

    Win a new Ford Fusion in the “Hole In One” event ,which begins at 9 a.m. with lunch provided. 

    Cost for a four-person team is $225. A silent auction also will be available. All proceeds benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters. For more information contact Jason Stephenson (502) 525-1874. 

  • Froman club hosts two ‘fearless females’

    Members of the Caby M. Froman Club and their guests gathered at noon Friday, June 7, at the Harmony Landing Country Club of Goshen, Ky., for the club’s annual June luncheon. 

    President Sandra Thomas welcomed those in attendance with her reading of “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. The group then joined in singing “My Old Kentucky Home.”  Special music followed with Mary Ellis Combs singing “Summertime.” Sue Scott offered the blessing.

  • Kittens also available for adoption through CCAS

    Carroll County Animal Support has lots of pretty and playful kittens that need “purr ever” homes. The cats are 10 weeks old, males, females, tabbies, tortis, gold, black, orange, gray and calicos.

    This is Burglar (top), abandoned at the police station, and River (bottom), named for River Reed Assisted Living, host of a recent adoption event. River’s brother is named Reed.

  • Lion’s Club holds second poker run fundraiser

     The Carrollton Lion’s Club held a second poker run in memory of Mike Gividen on June 8. The first run experienced low attendance due to weather and conflicting events. The run began and ended at Herb Kinman Chevrolet. Money raised from the poker run benefits the Lion’s Club fund for county residents in need of assistance with eye exams and eye glasses.

  • Farewell set for Father Davy

     St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church invites the community to join in saying thank you and farewell to Father Kavungal Davy from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, June 23. in the parish hall. Everyone is welcome.

  • Rabies clinic is Saturday

    Three Rivers District Health Department and Wallace Veterinary Clinic will hold a  rabies vaccination clinic, Saturday, June 15, from 4-6 p.m. at Carroll County Health Center, 401 11th Street in Carrollton.

    The cost is $5 per animal.

    Other vaccinations and services may be available upon request for additional charges.
