  • Ninth annual walk set to raise funds for CHD

    God’s Special Little Hearts and the Owen County Homemakers will host the ninth annual Walk for Awareness of Congenital Heart Defects event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Owenton First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 213 North Main Street in Owenton, Ky. The event is free to attend.

    A special recognition walk for CHD survivors and families of angels will be held at 3 p.m.

    I don’t know for sure if that’s true or not as I didn’t go back and look at the first line of all my articles, so I’m not going to say one way or another. I will say this — it’s cold! Yes, bitter cold. Perfect weather for staying in and cooking up something delicious.

  • Toevs graduates from basic military training

    Air Force Airman Nathaniel S. Toevs graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

    The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

    Toevs is the son of Rodelyn Cooper of Florence and Ron Kohrmann of Carrollton.
