  • Howard named warden of the year

    Greg Howard of Carrollton has been named the 2014 Warden of the Year by Commissioner Ledonna Thompson of the Department of Corrections for the state of Kentucky.

    Howard is a 23 year veteran of the Department of Corrections.

    He worked his way up through the ranks, beginning his career as a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Reformatory. He has served as warden of three institutions, and deputy warden of another. He is currently warden of Luther Luckett Correctional Complex.

  • Little Rookies | Oct. 30, 2014

    Registration for Parks and Recreation Little Rookies basketball will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 27-Nov. 7, Monday through Friday at the Parks and Recreation office, located on the third floor of the courthouse. Forms also can be mailed with payment before deadline to 440 Main Street, Carrollton, Ky., 41008. Forms also can be faxed to (502) 732-7033 and payment mailed.

    Children ages 3-5 as of Jan. 1, 2015, will be in the lower league, while children 6 through second grade will be in the upper league.

  • Cool weather brings the time to cook up a pot of chili

    Hello again my friends. I’m looking out the window as I type this month’s article, watching the cool rain stream down the windowpane.

    The calendar says it’s fall, and I must say it now officially feels like it. Cool, wind and leaves changing colors have brought the feeling of what’s to come. While cold and snow might still be on their way, the foods of fall are already here.

  • Froman club discusses Hadley pottery at Halloween meeting

    October meeting of the Caby M. Froman club was held at General Butler State Resort Park. Julia Steelman was the hostess of the day, and all members enjoyed Halloween decorations and treats.

    Sandra Thomas, president, opened the meeting with the reading of “The World We Make,” by Arthur Grand Walton.

    Roll call was taken by members giving a Kentucky Fact for their response.  All recited the Lord’s Prayer before lunch was served.

  • Stark attends state court clerk meeting

    Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk Laman Stark participated in the 2014 Circuit Court Clerks Fall College Sept. 23-25 at the Administrative Office of the Courts in Frankfort.  The college included 14 hours of continuing education credit.
