  • Summer provides delicious fresh vegetables to grill

    Hello once again, my friends. This article finds us in the middle of a deluge of rain, several areas experiencing flooding and hail storms. That being said, summer is coming and with it the wonderful array of delicious foods that come with it. We always think of the grill and, frankly, that does define summer in a lot of ways, but sooner or later that grilled meat needs some sides.

  • Help patients, honor loved ones by donating blood with the Red Cross

    Before busy summer schedules set in, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to roll up a sleeve to help ensure a sufficient supply for patients in need.

    Donors of all blood types are needed now to help accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving cancer treatment.

  • CCRTA awards three scholarships

    The Carroll County Retired Teachers Association met on May 19, at Two Rivers Restaurant with six members present. The minutes of the March meeting were read by secretary Donna Wallace and were approved as read. The treasurer reported that 37 members have paid their local dues.

    Due to the generous donations of the members, CCRTA was able to present three $300 scholarships to the following Carroll County High School seniors: Ericah Martinez, Jordan Becraft and Haley Dermon. The members wish these young ladies much success in their pursuit of a career in education.
