My husband loves rice. Through the almost 40 years that we have been together, he has not missed telling his beloved rice story every time I make rice.
When he was a boy in South Dakota, his parents would go to town (they lived on a farm) and leave Bob behind with his grandfather. The story goes like this: “I like rice, my Grandpa liked rice and when my parents went to town, he would fix himself some rice in a copper bottom pan, just like the one we have and never offer me any of it. He would eat it right out of the pan. I like rice.”
