• Non-profit offers Medicare enrollment help

    It is that time of year again for Medicare Open Enrollment, and time for people to review their Medicare options for next year. 

    Angela Zeek, SHIP Coordinator with Legal Aid of the Bluegrass, said there is a growing trend for people to want to keep their current coverage this year, which could be a costly decision. 

    Some Medicare prescription drug premiums have increased as much as 200 percent and can cost about $100 a month. 

  • Turkey shoots in November

    Happy Hollow Resort and Gibson Farm Fun Days will offer the Annual Turkey Shoot in the Hollow, under new management, 2 p.m. all Sundays in November at the Happy Hollow Resort off Hwy 227 in Worthville.     Navy Office of Community Outreach

    A 2005 Carroll County High School graduate and Carrollton, Kentucky native is serving in the U.S. Navy as part of a crew working aboard one of the world’s most advanced ballistic missile submarines, USS Wyoming (SSBN 742).

    Petty Officer 3rd Class Joshua Craig is an electronics mate serving aboard the Kings Bay-based boat, one of 14 Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines.  

  • Thompson joins Crawford & Baxter

    Jake A. Thompson has joined the law firm of Crawford & Baxter, P.S.C., in Carrollton, Ky.

    A Carroll County native, he received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Kentucky College of Law in May 2015. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Northern Kentucky University where he received his bachelors of arts in criminal justice, after completing preliminary college classes at the Jefferson Community and Technical College’s Carrollton Campus.
