    Carroll County Girl Scouts registration night will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, starting at 5 p.m. at the Carroll County Park.

    There will be a parent meeting from 5-6 p.m. followed by a pool party for the girls from 6-8 p.m.

  • Riley, Humphrey to wed

    Donald and Dorothy Riley of Pleasureville, Ky. announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Felicia Riley of Carrollton to Willie Humphrey of Carrollton, son of Mike Humphrey of Carrollton and Mattie Copeland of Madison, Ind.

    The ceremony will take place, 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Camp Kysoc. Invitations will be sent.

    After the ceremony the family will reside in Carrollton.

  • Group looks for Honey Boo Boo look-alike at First Friday event

     A new Honey Boo Boo Look Alike Contest will be held at the Sept. 6 First Friday at the Courthouse Square in downtown Carrollton.

    The event is sponsored by Carrollton Main Street Program and First Friday series sponsors Kentucky Utilities and Earl Floyd Ford.

    As part of the National Honey Month celebration, the Honey Boo Boo Look Alike Contest will be held for children ages 3 to 10.

  • Legion members attend state conference in June

    The Sons of the American Legion Post No. 41 attended the 95th annual conference June 27-29 in Louisville. The group was represented by Dennis Mefford, Donald Hawkins, Troy Stethen and Clyde Stethen. Michelle McGuire and Tammy Hawkins also attended.

    The post also recently completed work on its meeting room and kitchen and has them looking like new. The Sons and Ladies Auxiliary both donated money to the renovation.

    Patrons may bring dry or canned pet food or kitty litter to the library to reduce or eliminate fines for overdue and lost items through the end of August. Details are available at the desk.   • Group offers free dogwood trees during August

    Everyone who joins the nonprofit Arbor Day Foundation with a $10 donation will receive 10 free white flowering dogwood trees through the Foundation’s Trees for America campaign.

    The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting in each member’s area, which falls between Oct. 15 and Dec. 10. The 6-12 inch trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Planting instructions are enclosed with each shipment of trees.
