I was thinking the other day about having a refreshing beverage – it was 90 degrees outside, and my mouth was parched. My mind ran down the list of cool drinks I have prepared in the past.
I began thinking of new beverages to prepare and how pretty and enticing I could make them look, which truly is a blissful experience for me. Sometimes I am amazed by where my imagination can go.
River Valley Financial Bank and Fun Zone Inflatables are hosting a Relay for Life carnival from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in the parking lot behind the bank, 1501 Highland Ave.
Proceeds will benefit Carroll County’s Relay for Life. Tables and chairs will be set up under a canopy to provide shade.
As I write this column, it has been the most incredible day and there is more to come tomorrow.
First, we went to our grandson’s ballgame in Villa Hills, Ky., which is always such fun. Those fellas are so little and cute. Of course, it was cloudy and rainy, but we managed to get through the complete game.
I also had the pleasure of giving my grandmother’s china to my daughter. Grandmother gave the china, and Mother gave the china to me. Now it was time for me to pass it on.

The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Carroll County High School and a 2011 graduate of Northern Kentucky University, with a degree in mathematics.
The groom-to-be is a 2005 graduate of CCHS and a 2008 graduate of Jefferson Community and Technical College, with a degree in applied science. He is an operator for Gallatin Steel.
Billie Ann Jewell of Willisburg, Ky. and Donnie Ray Cannon of Worthville, Ky. announce their forthcoming marriage. The wedding will at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Wheatley Community Center. A reception will follow.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of the late Archie and Stella Gordy. She is the mother of Frances, Bobbie Jo and Cody Ray.
The groom-elect is the son of Rachel Cannon and the late Ancil Cannon. Friends and family are invited to attend.
