Michael and Barbara Garvey of Hanover, Ind., announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Allison Craig Garvey to Joel E. Zimmerman, son of Dorrie Zimmerman of Louisville, and the late Eddie Zimmerman.
The bride to be is a 2010 graduate of Transylvania University and a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She is employed at NTS Development Company in Louisville. She is the granddaughter of the late James B. and Mary Nell Oney, Joseph Garvey and Jean Lunsford.
Sixty-two years ago on Feb. 14, 1952, at the age of 21, Freddie C. Earls of Carrollton was called to serve active duty in Korea for the Department of the U.S. Army. He served only one year, five months and 17 days. On April 19, 1953, he was wounded, resulting in the loss of eyesight in both eyes.
After a long hospital stay and a long recovery period, he was sent to rehabilitation in Chicago, Ill.
The King’s Daughters’ Health Diabetes Care Center will host another free community program from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, in the Oak Conference Rooms at the hospital. The name of the program is “Managing Diabetes: Focus on Insulin.”
Open to the public, the “Managing Diabetes: Focus on Insulin” program targets these topics:
• Patients who are currently using insulin;
• Patients who may be nervous or afraid about starting insulin therapy;
