  • Carroll County Public Library | April 7, 2016

    The Carroll County Public Library will be accepting art for the Mary Ann Gentry Art Show until April 20. The show will be held Friday, April 29, from 6-7:30 p.m.

    The library will be closed for painting, Monday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 12. If you have a meeting in the Community room already scheduled on one of those days, you will be allowed to hold your meeting as planned.  Staff will be present to let you in.   • Scramble for the eggs

    During the event, there was a contest to guess how many jelly beans were in a glass jar. The answer was 3,438 jelly beans. The winner of the 12 and under division was LuLu Tharp of Carrollton with a guess of 3,367. The winner of the older division was Christy Nolan of Milton with a guess of 3,391.

  • Pageant raises Relay funds

    The sixth annual Relay For Life Pageants were held March 26, at Carroll County Middle School. All proceeds benefited the Carroll County Relay For Life and American Cancer Society. 

  • Bringing history to life

    Blue verses Gray comes to life April 15-17, at Point Park as Carrollton/Carroll County Tourism sponsors a Civil War Living History.

    Carroll County Schools will visit the living history display Friday, April 15, and Tourism Director Misty Wheeler said that Mary Louden’s Cartmell Elementary history club would camp out with the soldiers on Friday night.

    The event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, and Sunday, April 17.

  • American Red Cross has significant need for type O negative blood

    The American Red Cross has a significant need for type O negative blood donors to donate blood for patients.

    Type O negative blood can be transfused to patients with any blood type and is often used in emergency situations. While less than 7 percent of the U.S. population has type O negative blood, hospitals depend on frequent O negative donations to ensure it’s always available for patients in need.

  • Carroll County Public Library | Mar. 31, 2016

    It’s that time of year again! If you have artwork that you wish to exhibit in this year’s Mary Ann Gentry Art Show, please bring it ready to be hung or displayed. Artwork should be new to the show and not previously submitted. Limit two pieces per artist.

    Art will be accepted up until Wednesday, April 20. The library will accept all kinds of art, including drawing, jewelry making, mixed-media, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Opening night reception will be held 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 29.
