    The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety and the Kentucky State Police issued awards at a ceremony held Dec. 8, 2011 to law enforcement officers across the state for their individual contributions to the Commonwealth’s mission of aggressive traffic enforcement.

  • Kroger holds Relay for Life fundraiser

    Kroger Relay for Life bake sale and pictures with Santa will be held, Saturday, Dec. 17, at Krogers in Carrollton.  

    The bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. -1 p.m. and pictures with Santa Claus (donation of $1) from 1-3 p.m. All donations will be given to Relay for Life.

  • Rotary, CCMH partner for winter ball fundraiser

    Carrollton Rotary Club will partner with Carroll County Memorial Hospital to begin a fundraising campaign to purchase digital mammography equipment for the hospital.
    The club will revivie the popular Rotary Winter Ball, a black-tie optional event scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18 at General Butler State Resport Park, according to club member Nick Marsh, chairman of the event.

    A few years ago, a dear friend gave me a taste of a wonderful quick bread, that I thought was out of this world.

    I was fortunate because Pam Eskew gave me the recipe.  Her mother, Mary Biehl, gave it to her.

  • Circuit court clerk’s office to close for inauguration

    The Carroll County Circuit Clerk’s Office will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 13 and reopen Wednesday, Dec. 14 on normal schedule.

    Chief Justice John D. Minton has announced the judicial branch of state government will join the executive branch in closing for business on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, to observe the inauguration of Gov. Steve Beshear.

    Gov. Beshear has declared Dec. 13 to be a state holiday in recognition of the inauguration for his second term in office.

  • Library offers ‘perks’ to seek item returns

    Carroll County Public Library is offering some free “perks” this holiday season.

    The entire month of December will be Amnesty Month. Below are the details:

    • An overdue item returned with a non-perishable food item will have fines forgiven.

    • Lost items.  Two non-perishable food items will have fines/processing fees forgiven and 50 percent of the replacement value forgiven.

    • One non-perishable food item will forgive any outstanding fines, if all items have been returned.
