  • Family welcomes son

    Amanda Oneal and Paul Weeks announce the birth of their son, Walker Henry Weeks, born Feb. 4, 2011, at Baptist Northeast Hospital in La Grange, Ky. He weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces, and was 20 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Eugene and Fonda Oneal of Carrollton. Maternal great-grandparents are Judy May and Mary and Joe Oneal, all of Carrollton.
    Paternal grandparents are Pamela Weeks of Eminence and the late Patrick Henry Weeks Sr.

  • Health fair offers free, reduced-price screening, other medical information

    The third annual Carroll County Health and Safety Fair is 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 26, at the Kentucky National Guard Armory on State Hwy. 227 in Carrollton.

    The free event is sponsored by the Carroll County Community Development Corporation’s Health and Safety Partnership, in collaboration with Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Three Rivers District Health Department and Green Valley Care Center.

    The event provides family friendly information to residents in Carroll and surrounding counties about how to be healthy and stay safe.

    The Carroll County Extension Homemakers hosted a tea Feb. 16 for the residents of New Horizons Assisted Living
    Residents were treated to tea, sandwiches and cookies, and former members shared their memories of belonging to the Homemakers Club.
    Stories of days gone by and of hobbies and interests brought smiles to everyone.

  • Woman’s club holds March meeting

    The Carrollton Woman’s Club met Tuesday, March 1, at the Carroll County Extension Office. Members enjoyed a pot-luck dinner and held the group’s annual business meeting.
    Hostess Nancy Jo Grobmyer opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. Nancy Ellis gave the blessing.
    Grobmyer presided at the business meeting; eight members were present.
