  • Oysters make a tasty chowder, much like clams

    When we had our Ghent Woman’s Club meeting and Christmas get-together in early December, we were asked to tell what some of our Christmas memories were and what we would be doing for Christmas. Since our theme was “Christmas Memories,”  it was a wonderful evening of reminiscing for all of us. We discussed our family’s holiday meal traditions, as well.  We had such a good time.

  • Tickets available for Rotary ball

    Several locations around Carrollton will have tickets available for the Carrollton Rotary Club’s winter ball, according to project chairman Nick Marsh.

    Credit card purchases may be made at the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce office. Other locations include the gift shop or the administration office at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, US Bank, United Citizens Bank, First National Bank, Carrollton Federal Bank and Monk and Marsh Attorneys.

  • Family Ties, Youth Services seek participants for survey

    Many parents are aware Family Ties and the Youth Services Center are two programs located in the Carroll County school district that are vital for students success. These programs need parents to take a brief survey, which is located on the districts webpage under special programs. Family Ties serves Head Start, Kathryn Winn and Cartmell. Youth Servics serves middle, high and alternative schools. Please take five minutes this week to complete the survey.   • Colbert, Jimenez exchange vows

    Tony S. Colbert and Janelyn L. Jimenez formerly of Iloito City, Philippines were united in marriage on Oct. 27, 2011, at the Naval Air Station Chapel, in Pensacola, Fla.

    Mr. Colbert is currently employed as a correctional officer at Roederer Correctional Complex at LaGrange. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1980 to 2000.

    The couple reside in Carrollton.

  • Surviving in Sync group honored during health department’s awards program

    Members of the Kentucky Thorough-Breasts “Surviving in Sync” dragon boat racing team attended the Three Rivers District Health Department’s annual awards ceremony where Rep. Tom McKee was on hand to present the team’s non-profit with the pink dragon boat on behalf of Three Rivers.

    Rep. McKee also presented the team with a citation from the Kentucky House of Representatives recognizing their accomplishments.
