• Hays family welcomes birth of daughter, Mila

    Deidra and Jimmy Hays of Carrollton announce the birth of their daughter Mila Rayne Hays born 6:14 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and was 20.5 inches long.

    Her big brother, Channing Hays helped welcome her home.

    Maternal grandparents are Greg and Lesa Barr of Carrollton.

    Paternal grandparents are Tina and Tony Meadows of Carrollton, and Dan and Linda Hays of Louisville, Ky.

  • Community Theatre - New Year’s Eve at the Bad Habit Club

    “New Year’s Eve at the Bad Habit Club” featured a host of local actors. The short play was a part of the New Year’s Eve celebration at General Butler State Resort Park, sponsored by Friends of Butler and the park. The play was directed by Deborah Garrett and Mary Louden. Greg Beck was the technical director. The night also featured a buffet dinner and concert by The Rigby’s, a Beatles tribute band.

  • Wright, 8, donates gifts to needy children

    The giving of gifts is a holiday tradition, but this year Savannah Wright, the eight-year-old daughter of Debbie Dixon and Wesley Wright, created her own tradition.

    It started when Savannah decided to re-gift a Winnie the Pooh children’s table that was new in the box.

    “She looked into where she could give the table to someone who could use it,” Dixon said. “Of course, she found more than one child who needed help at Christmas time.”

    Emma Jean Pate celebrated her 85th birthday with her friends at Welch’s Restaurant in Carrollton, Saturday, Dec. 19.

  • Polleys celebrate 30 years

     The Rev. Tim and Lynne Polley are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 28, 1985, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Moline Ill. They have two sons, Sean Polley, 25, of St. Louis, Mo. and Benjamin Polley, 18, of Carrollton.
