  • Utility to conduct hydrant flushing

    Carrollton Utilities will flush fire hydrants on the city of Carrollton water system, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17. Hydrant flushing is done each year at this time to remove all sediment in the mains and to make sure all hydrants are working properly. Carrollton Utilities suggests that residents should not wash laundry while crews are flushing the hydrants as some staining could occur.

  • Brown leads points race

    Cody Brown began his all-time dream of auto racing at age 13. In August 2012, he began competing in the INEX US Legends Bandolero Outlaws. He is currently the point’s leader in the FAST Midwest Bandolero Outlaw Series, Bandolero cars are mini NASCAR cars.

  • Toevs completes basic training for Air Force

    Air Force Airman Nathaniel Toevs graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

    The airman completed an intensive eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

  • Owen Electric rate settlement provides utility with $1 million less than requested 

    The Kentucky Public Service Commission has accepted a proposed settlement in a rate-adjustment case filed by Owen Electric Cooperative Inc.

    Owen Electric reached a settlement with the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General that grants a $4 million increase in annual revenue, which is about $74,000 less than its original request and $1.07 million less than a subsequent revised request. Owen Electric’s annual revenue will increase by about 2.7 percent.
