May 8 is World Red Cross Day, and the American Red Cross encourages eligible individuals to celebrate by donating lifesaving blood in their communities. The need is constant, and all blood types are needed, especially O negative, B negative and A negative.

Girl Scout Troop Nos. 306 and 1153 will host a father-daughter dance on Friday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Camp Kysoc. There will be music, crafts, games and refreshments. The cost per ticket is $12 for a couple or $6 for individual. All are welcome. For information call (502) 525-1646.
Local musicians will perform on first Thursdays in May through July at Welch’s Riverside Restaurant. Owners Junior and Donna Welch want to focus attention on Carroll County’s musicians and also the recent charge of making their restaurant smoke free.

Green Valley Crusaders will be hosting a chili supper and silent auction to benefit Relay For Life on Saturday, April 27 at News Auction, located on Hwy. 227. The event is scheduled from 5-9 p.m. Cost is $7 per person, which includes chili, sandwich, dessert and drink. A silent auction will also be held during this event. As the weather warms, this is the perfect time to think about the tradition of summer camp. From swimming and hiking, to singing songs around a camp fire and newer challenges like a high ropes course, camp is the place to make memories that last a lifetime.
Girls in first through 12th grades from the Carroll County area have a great way to build these kinds of memories this summer. Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana will be holding summer camps at two locations on multiple dates from June through July.
