The McDonald’s® Restaurants of Kentuckiana Black History Makers of Tomorrow scholarship program—offering a total of $15,000 to outstanding high school students—is now accepting applications. Applications must be completed online before Jan. 31, 2017.
The McDonald’s Black History Makers of Tomorrow scholarship program honors outstanding high school seniors, with at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean descent, who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement, leadership, character and community service.

United Citizens Bank and Trust Co. of Carrollton recently honored posthumously a proclamation for John M. Berry, Jr. recently of Henry County.
Berry served the bank as a director for more than 50 years and served as president of their holding company for some time. He was a farmer, a staunch supporter of the family farm and was involved in many agricultural projects and programs. He served the tobacco farmer extensively by being President of the Burley Tobacco-Growers Coop for many years.
Lion Denny Nieberding was presented with the Lions Club Melvin Jones Award on Saturday, Nov. 5. The Melvin Jones Fellowship Award is awarded to Lions who have shown dedication and longevity in their work as a Lion. The money raised from this award is donated to support disaster relief throughout the world.
