David Day, 11, of Taylorsville sat outside Carrollton Sheet Metal on Friday, selling popsicles for 25 cents to raise money for the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The company is owned by his grandparents Dave and Barb Clymer. His sister Emma, 5, suffers from seizures. Last year, David donated $15 to the hospital after one day of selling his wares. “I don’t want people to go through what I do,” he said.
Family Ties Resource Center will host a Community Baby Shower from 6-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 25 at Cartmell Elementary for all new and expectant parents.
Several agencies will be teaming up together to provide new parents with valuable information and to explain what their programs can offer. Agencies will speak for a few minutes, and then parents can visit the booths and ask questions or discuss concerns about parenthood and their new baby.
The Lots of Love team in Memory of Glenda Breeden is trying to raise awareness and money for Carroll County Relay For Life.
Through June 15, team members are passing around a “purple potty” to yards in the area with awareness signs and Relay signs to help bring attention within the community about cancer and Relay For Life.
The team hopes more people in the community will come out to honor and remember those who have battled cancer. The Relay will be held June 15-16 at the fairgrounds.
Carrollton Utilities will flush fire hydrants on the City of Carrollton water system, Thursday, April 19, 2012.
Flushing will begin at 8 a.m. with completion by 5 p.m.
Flushing of the hydrants is done each year at this time to remove all sediment in the mains and to make sure all hydrants are working properly. Carrollton Utilities suggest that laundry should not be washed while crews are flushing the hydrants as some staining of clothes could occur.

Our ‘snowbird’ days in Florida have ended. We had a great time, as always, but it started out a little rough.
When we arrived there, we found we had a major leak in our kitchen that came from the condo above us. After dealing with the insurance and all the scheduling that it takes, it finally was completed just before we left.
Three Rivers Health District Health Department is sponsoring its fourth annual “5K fun run/walk” in Carrollton.
The run begins at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 2 at General Butler State Resort Park back entrance.
Additional races will be held at: Pendleton County, Sharp Middle School, April 14, 9 a.m.; Owen County, Owen County High School, May 19, 9 a.m.; and Gallatin County, Gallatin County High School, April 21, 9 a.m.
