With more than 700 Kentuckians on the waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant, the Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk’s office plays a vital role in helping those patients waiting on a donor organ.
“I am proud that my office has made an impact on patients in need of a life-saving organ transplant, and I am humbled at the generosity of our community,” Laman Stark, Carroll County Circuit Court Clerk, said.
Recently we have seen and heard a lot about Paula Deen and her diagnosis of Type II Diabetes.
People, mainly media, are so quick to criticize when we take a misstep, but remember what everyone was saying about Ms. Deen prior to her recent admission. They were singing her praises. She does happen to have very good recipes, however, we can make changes.
We all have choices in life and we can make our own choice as to how and what we eat.
It’s official, I am now old because I have just hit the age of Medicare. Funny though, it doesn’t bother me, and I don’t feel that old.
Two years ago, I almost missed this important milestone. But now I am walking more than a mile every day and doing Zumba at least once a week, and I feel fantastic. Besides, I have five grandchildren to keep up with, so I should keep active.
On Friday, Jan. 20, Carroll County Memorial Hospital along with Carroll County Area Technology Center’s HOSA will hold a uniform sale from 6 a.m.- 4 p.m., with 10 percent of the proceeds going to Carroll County Area Technology Center’s Health Occupation Students of America.

Kroger Relay for Life Cutie Pie contest will be held Jan. 15 to Feb. 14. Children up to age 3 are eligible. Trophies will be awarded to winners in first, second and third place for both boys and girls. Bring in child’s photo with name, age and parents’ phone number. Kroger shoppers can vote for their favorite cutie by dropping money into cups that correspond with each photo. Winners will be announced Feb. 15. Photos may be picked up after that date.
