Carroll County Clerk Alice Marsh has received a $1,575 grant from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA) to preserve and manage local government records. KDLA is an agency of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
Sixty-six grants have been awarded for a total of $1,321,474 from fiscal year 2012 Local Records Grant Program funds. During the program’s 26-year history, a total of more than $19 million has been distributed across Kentucky and included grants to all 120 counties.
Shane and Rita Power of Owenton would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Makenzie Brooke Power, born Monday, March 26, 2012, at 11:43 p.m. at Frankfort Regional Hospital in Frankfort, Ky. She weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces and was 18.5 inches long.
Maternal grandparents are Melba Taylor of Carrollton, and John and Charlotte Carter of Trimble County.
Paternal grandparents are Scott and Joan Power of Owenton.
Great-grandparents are Katherine Carter of Carrollton and Eula “Poppy” Perkins of Owenton.

The Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission is sponsoring a pre-business orientation for that time and date at Carroll County Public Library, 136 Court St., Carrollton. The session will provide information to potential entrepreneurs about an upcoming course offered through the Rekindle Micro-Enterprise Program, which will meet for six consecutive Tuesdays at the library starting July 10.
The annual Carroll County Relay For Life event will take place on Friday, June 15 at the Carroll County Fairgrounds at 7 p.m.
A silent and live auction will be a part of the activities scheduled for the evening. If anyone would like to donate an item or a basket for the auctions, bring it to the fairgrounds the day of the event or call (502) 732-5941 for additional information.
Fifteen contestants will compete Saturday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Carroll County Fairgrounds for the title of Carroll County Idol. There are three levels of competition that the contestants must complete to win. Those particpating include: Jeanie Rider, Kaitlyn Rider, Tim Corley, Sarah Beach, Tara Harsin, Kaleb Nab, Kiana Benhoff, Connor Dermon, Hannah Cain, Andrea Williams, Vanessa Birchfield, James Chaffins, Mindy Snyder, Chris Russell and Sarah Hawkins. Brandon Stewart will host the event, sponsored by Carroll County Fair Board and organized by Melanie Stewart.
