• Benefit for Cindy Tingle Aug. 22

  • Williams, Reese to wed Aug. 22

    Chris and Ann Reese of Carrollton announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Desiree Cheyenne Reese of Carrollton to Joseph Thompson Williams of Wheatley, son of Tommy and Kathy Williams also of Wheatley.

    The bride-to-be is a 2009 graduate of Carroll County High School and a 2013 graduate from Beckfield College. She is employed as a Registered Nurse at Carroll County Memorial Hospital.

    The groom elect is a 2008 graduate of Owen County High School and is employed at North American Stainless.

  • Shaw, Dews welcome daughter

    Brittany Shaw and Keith Dews of Carrollton, Ky. announce the birth of their daughter, Raelyn Jaye Dews, born 3:18 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Baptist Hospital LaGrange in LaGrange, Ky. She weighed 4 pounds 9 ounces and was 17 inches long. 

    Aunt Katie Walters and Uncle Andrew Shaw, both of Carroll County, helped welcome her home. 

    Maternal grandparents are James and Theresa Shaw of Carrollton and great-grandparents Cynthia Burton of Carroll County and the late James Burton. 

  • Summer Reading Program, social media effort were successful

    Today was a particularly crisp, cool, August morning. I am not sure if the weather conditions matched the way I felt or if it was my imagination because it was the first day of school.

    Social media was full today with kids in their new school clothes, proud parents ushering in new students, teachers buzzing with new ideas and a few mom tears because their babies are growing up so fast.

  • Pool offers free admission Aug. 8; hours set to change

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation is offering a free day at the county pool on Aug. 8. Free admission for everyone.

    Beginning Aug. 15, the pool will only be open on weekends for the remainder of the season.

    On Aug. 12, 13 and 14, the pool will be open for adults only. No one under 18 will be permitted.

    Parks and Recreation will hold an end of summer event Aug. 29. More details will be coming soon and available on the Parks and Recreation page on Facebook.
