A poker run will be held Sunday, June 22, in memory of Eric Scott Mahoney who died on May 21, 2014, of Crohn’s Disease. Ride will begin at General ?Butler State Park at the Memorial Site, off Hwy 227. Sign up is from 10 a.m. until noon. Cost is $25 a couple or $20 single. $100 to Best Poker Hand. Patricia Smith McEndre and Tammy Layton Hearn were photographed and featured on the front page of the June 16, 1982, issue of The News-Democrat before graduating from Carroll County High School in 1982. Their daughters Hannah McEndre and Katie Hearn, respectively, re-created that photo before their recent CCHS Class of 2014 graduation.

Bob and Sharon Yocum will be honored at a reception at News Auction House, June 21, from 5-8 p.m. in celebration of their Golden Wedding Anniversary. They were married June 26, 1964, at Hickory Grove Methodist Church in Bedford.

The Carrollton branch of Farmers Bank of Milton, with help from Paul’s Tire and Feed in Prestonville and Central Farm Supply in Louisville, recently held its annual dog-food donation drive for Carroll County Animal Support.
In the end, more than 2,600 pounds of various brands of dog food were collected. The food is being stored by CCAS and will be used to help feed the homeless or abandoned dogs that make their way into the organization.

The bride is a 2004 graduate of Carroll County High School, a 2008 graduate of the University of Kentucky, College of Agriculture with a Bachelor in Animal Sciences and a 2012 graduate of Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She is a veterinarian for Georgetown Veterinary Clinic in Georgetown, Ind.
